Chechen State University in Grozny was founded on 9th of March, 1971. Currently around 20,000 (over 5000 being foreign students from all over the world) full-time students are getting degrees at the Chechen State University. 10 faculties and 4 institutes are coordinating the studying process.Chechen State University degree is recognized by the WHO, UNESCO, PLAB (the UK), USMLE (the USA), MCI, PMDC, as well as other International Organizations. Chechen State University, formerly Grozny University, took a huge leap of development during the period between 1970 and 1980. FACULTY OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT)
The Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) was established at the Chechen State University in 2014. The Faculty offers degrees in three areas of study: “Business Informatics”, Software Engineering” and “Info-communication Technologies and System Networks. Students are admitted at the Faculty after a rigorous selection process e.g. for its first academic year of 2014- 15 only 48 were accepted, after being chosen from more than 200 candidates.
There are two departments at the Faculty: “Business Informatics” and “Programming & Info- communication Technologies”. There are also two laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technology in the Faculty areas of study and research. Faculty staff consists mainly of former Chechen State University graduates, who graduated from British and German Universities.
Department of Business Informatics
The Department offers degrees in the field of Business Informatics, which integrates core elements from the disciplines of business administration, economics, and information science.
Department of Programming & Info-communication Technologies
The Department offers degrees in the fields of “Software Engineering” and “Info-communication Technologies”. After course completion, its graduates are awarded BSc degrees in the areas of computer science, IT and communication technology.
FIT Laboratories
The FIT Laboratories were established with the help of experts and specialists from a number of local and international IT & Communication technology companies, such as Vainakh-Telecom, Cisco, etc.. They are equipped with cutting-edge hardware and the latest generation specialized software. They serve as both training and research facilities at the Faculty. The FIT aims to help its students to generate high-tech know-how in the course of degree with a view to start up their own IT companies.
The FIT graduates will be offered an opportunity to undergo specialist training in the British and German IT & communications companies. Senior management of the Chechen State University will also offer additional training to the FIT students in accordance with the requirements of the international job market.
FACULTY OF MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTER SCIENCE
In 2007 the faculty of mathematics was renamed into Faculty of Mathematics and Computer science. There are 10 professors and 11 doctors who work at the faculty.
At the present time, there are six chairs at the faculty: mathematical analysis, algebra and geometry, differential equations, mathematical methods in economic analysis, computational mathematics and mechanics, information technology.
The faculty of mathematics and computer technologies have a good materially-technical basis. Excellent conditions are created that allow effective study. There are great auditoriums for lectures and seminar activities. The study halls have good acoustics and illumination. There are laboratories for activities on computers. The facilities for sports activities are also available. The members of the faculty maintain close relationships with the leading international and Russian organizations, scientific establishments and institutions.
For the contributions to science and education professor K.G.Umarov received the name of an honored worker of the Chechen Republic science and professor S.N.Askhabov is proclaimed The man of the year-2004 by the American biographical institute.
FACULTY OF ECONOMICS AND FINANCE
Faculty of Economics and Finance was established in accordance with the decision of Chechen State University Academic Council in March 2012 as a result of merging two faculties: Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Finance and Economics. The first graduation of accountants on the Economics Faculty took place in 1976.

The Faculty has more than 130 teachers, of whom 60% are candidates (Ph.D.) or doctors of science. Many famous scientists-economists from leading universities of Russia are invited at the initiative of the Chechen State University Rector Z. Saidov and are working at the departments of the Faculty. A number of people who hold key ministerial and departmental positions in the Chechen Republic are regularly invited to give public lectures. The scientists of the faculty participate in All- Russian and International scientific conferences, in the work of the educational-methodological board and of dissertation board as well.
The professional staff of the faculty for the last 3 years (2013-2015) has published over 30 monographs, 200 articles in the magazines indexed by international and Russian database Web of Science, Scopus, RINC.
At present, 4000 students, including over 1400 full-time students, study at the Faculty of Economics and Finance. The competition among entrants applying for bachelor degrees at the Faculty is traditionally still very high.
Each classroom has access to the Internet and multimedia interactive whiteboard for teaching support.
FACULTY OF LAW
Faculty of Law, founded in 1991, is one of the largest faculties of the Chechen State University. Currently, the faculty trained more than 2,500 full-time students. The first dean and the founder of the Faculty of Law was Dr. Baudin Dadaevich Bakhmadov, associate professor, now honored lawyer of the Russian Federation. Teaching staff includes more than 110 people, including 11 doctors and 65 candidates of sciences, three Honored worker of Science of the Chechen Republic, 1 Honored Worker of Science of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, 3 Honored lawyers of the Chechen Republic and one Honoured Lawyer of the Russian Federation.
There are two main courses on the faculty:
“Law”;
“Social Work”.
Also, there is a master’s program “Criminal policy of modern Russia and the role of responsibility in its implementation” on the faculty, in the area of preparation “Law”.
The educational process is carried out of 6 departments, 5 of which are graduations.
The main direction of educational-methodical activity of Department of Criminal Law and Process is development of the most effective methods of studying of the disciplines of criminal- law cycle.
There are studies on the department, which have the following two courses:
Criminal Law and Criminology; criminally-executive law
Criminal trial, criminalistics; operatively-search activity.
Department of Civil Law and Procedure. The department has 29 members of staff, including 1 doctor and 8 candidates. The main direction of educational-methodical activity of the department is development of the most effective methods of studying of the disciplines of civil-law cycle.
Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law. The department has 9 teachers, including 6 PhDs.
Department of Theory and History of State and Law. The department has one doctor and five candidates.
Department of Theory and History of Social Work. The department has 13 members of staff, including 3 doctors and 4 candidates of sciences.
Department of Technology of Social. The department has 10 members of staff, 3 of them are candidates of science. Since 2011 there is a Law Clinic at the Faculty which provides free legal aid to the population. In the clinic is organized internships of senior students under the guidance of supervisors. During 2013 there were examined 82 complaints of citizens by students of the Clinic, which provided qualified legal assistance.
In accordance with the curriculum, during the workshop(work experience) students are trained in the Interior Ministry of the Chechen Republic, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Chechen Republic, the Office of the Judicial Department of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation for the Chechen Republic, the Supreme Court of the Chechen Republic, the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Development of the Chechen Republic, the Office of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation for the Chechen Republic, Grozny Mayor’s Office, the Office of the Ombudsman in the Chechen Republic, the Registration Chamber of the Chechen Republic.
Law graduates are working in the law enforcement bodies of the Chechen Republic and other states of the Russian Federation, as well as in various sectors of the the national economy.
FACULTY OF PHYSICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Having been founded in 1938, the Faculty of Physics is one of the oldest faculties of the Chechen State University. In 2010, the faculty was transformed into the Faculty of Physics and Information Technology (FP and IT) by the decision of the Academic Council of Chechen State University.
There are 5 educational programmes convened at the Faculty.

FACULTY OF BIOLOGY AND CHEMISTRY
The six departments of the faculty conduct training in two areas of bachelor’s studies, two master’s programs and four postgraduate specialties. The students of the Faculty of Biology and Chemistry have the opportunity to study on the most modern equipment and to participate in the most important scientific research conducted, including at the Center for Collective Use of the Chechen State University. Faculty members are actively working to introduce innovative technologies in the educational process. This ensures the effective implementation of the program of the Chechen State University in the field of education quality policy. The graduates of the faculty find work in the general educational institutions of the republic, and many of them continue to study at the university – for a magistracy or a graduate school. The main part of graduates are employed in laboratories, scientific organizations and in the health system of the region.
AGRO-TECHNOLOGY INSTITUTE
The history of Agro-technology Institute dates back to the year 1993 when it was established as a department of the Biochemical Faculty. The first student enrollment was conducted for horticulture and viticulture courses. In the further, the department of agricultural disciplines was transformed into Agro-technology Institute, which was led by candidate of agricultural science, Gishkaeva Lima Salmanovna. Since 2002, Batukaev Abdulmalik Abdulhamidovich (Doctor of Agricultural Science, professor, academician of the International Academy of Vine and Wine, Honored Worker of Science of the Chechen Republic) directs the Agro-technology Institute. The Agro-technology Institute prepares specialists in the following courses: agricultural disciplines, the technology of production and processing of agricultural products, animal husbandry, agronomy, horticulture and viticulture, veterinary science and plant protection specialties.
Agriculture is one of the most important sectors of the economy of each state, as it is aimed at providing the population with food. In addition, agriculture provides a number of industries with various raw materials. The development and productivity of agriculture affect the balance of the state economy, the political situation in it, its food independence.
Agricultural specialists should have a high level of knowledge in various fields of science that will allow them to develop agriculture using new technologies and taking into account environmental safety.
On the shoulders of the Agrotechnological Institute of Chechen State University lies the staffing of the main branch of the regional economy – the agro-industrial complex of our republic. Graduates of the institute are expected not only in large agricultural complexes, but also in small farms, canning shops and veterinary clinics, greenhouses, nurseries, greenhouses, research, and educational institutes. The Institute of CSU has everything necessary for the organization of full- fledged educational and scientific work: specialized audiences, modern laboratories, multimedia classes. DEPARTMENT OF PEDAGOGY AND PSYCHOLOGY
The Department of Pedagogy and Psychology Chechen State University began its activities from the first days of the university, being an important scientific and pedagogical division. Over the years, the department has trained teachers not only for the republic, but also for the whole country.
At different periods, the department was headed by: Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Kan-Kalik Viktor Abramovich, Honored Scientist of the Chechen Republic, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Professor Mankiev Ayub Durtiyevich. Currently, the department is headed by candidate of pedagogical sciences Algaev Arthur Nurdinovich. Under the guidance of the doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor Sh.M-X. Arsalieva, the department has a postgraduate course in the direction of training 44.06.01 – Education and pedagogical sciences, focus (profile) 13.00.01 – General pedagogy, history of pedagogy and education.
The department maintains close scientific and professional pedagogical contacts with many universities in Russia, including the Pyatigorsk State Linguistic University, the Southern Federal University, the Dagestan State Pedagogical University.

FACULTY OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES
Faculty of Foreign Languages prepares highly qualified linguists who know several foreign languages, freely oriented in the domestic and foreign literature, Russian and European culture, familiar with the classical languages (Latin, Gothic). Our graduates are in demand in the system of science and education (universities, colleges, schools, research institutes) in the press (newspapers and magazines, publishing houses, radio and television), public service (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, archives, libraries, museums), in tourist agencies, domestic and foreign companies of various profiles. At the faculty, there are two language laboratories, equipped with audio and video equipment. The results of the research activity of students, graduate students, and professors of the Faculty of Foreign Languages covered in the “Bulletin of the CSU” magazine.
All faculty students study literature, Russian and foreign languages, as well as a number of philological sciences: general linguistics, get acquainted with various directions, trends, and schools of thought in the domestic and foreign philology. Training plan includes faculty and humanities disciplines cycle – philosophy, history, psychology, pedagogy, computer science orientation courses, natural science and humanities electives. Currently on the faculty are trained 181 students on 3 specialties: Linguistics (qualification “English”), linguistics (qualification “German”), linguistics (the qualification of “French”). FACULTY OF GEOGRAPHY AND GEOECOLOGY
At the present time, the Faculty of Geography and Geoecology is a large collection which consists of geographers, ecologists and economists. A total amount of teachers and employees is 72 people. There are 6 doctors of sciences and 18 candidates of sciences, 20 senior teachers and 11 assistants. Amongst these people, there are 4 Honoured Workers of Higher (Professional) Education of the Russian Federation, 1 Honoured Science Worker of the Chechen Republic, 1Honoured Social Worker of the Chechen Republic and Honoured ecologists of the Chechen Republic. The Faculty of Geography and Geoecology is the only faculty at universities of the Chechen Republic which produces geographers, gynaecologists and specialises in social and cultural services and tourism.
The graduates of the Faculty of Geography and Geoecology work in various sectors of the national economy of the Chechen Republic. The Faculty of Geography and Geoecology produces not only highly educated professionals in physical and human geography, geoecology and specialises in social and cultural services and tourism, but also it produces highly educated and motivated specialists who care about the preservation of human environment and the sustainability of life on Earth and moreover, the faculty forms an identity of a citizen and a patriot of his country.
In 2004 the faculty moved to a renovated 3rd study building, which was built in 1976. The building has a reading-room, computer classes, conference hall, gym and etc. The Polish humanitarian organization has donated study equipment to the “Ecodiagnostics and environmental monitoring” laboratory. This equipment allows the laboratory to conduct research on topics such as “Air”, “Water”, “Soil” and “Environment and human health”. All academic departments have modern computers and equipment. On a permanent basis, the Faculty has regained a unique by its landscape features territory of the base “Kharachoy”. It is used to organize scientific research to examine natural regions of mountainous areas.
The Faculty’s scientists conduct fundamental and applied research in the following foreground fields:
- landscape dynamics of the Chechen Republic;
- the ecological and geographical analysis of anthropogenic changes of the Chechen Republic landscapes and their components;
- landscape and medical zoning of the territory of the Chechen Republic;
- cartographic model of the territory of the Chechen Republic;
- the economy of the Chechen Republic: tactics and strategy of reconstruction and development;
- the condition and perspectives of development of the recreational complex of the Chechen Republic;
- employment of the population of the Chechen Republic;
- development of labour market, dynamics of population and labour resources of the Chechen Republic;
- the assessment of the impact of the economic activities on the environment and human health in the Chechen Republic.
The professional and teaching staff actively participates in regional, All-Russian and international conferences, in conducting Geography Olympiad for pupils and so on. The students of the Faculty participate in All-Russian Student Olympiads, conferences and competitions. The structure of the Faculty includes: the educational and scientific base “Kharachoy”, the laboratory of landscape studies, the laboratory of regional analysis and political geography, the laboratory of eco diagnostics and environmental monitoring, the laboratory of monitoring conditions and perspectives of development of sectors of social and cultural services and tourism. Also, a master’s degree can be obtained on the following courses: “geography”, “ecology and natural resource management”. The faculty also has a graduate school. The personnel training is managed in the academic departments of physical geography, human geography, rational natural resource management and social and cultural services and tourism. The Faculty of Geography and Geoecology has 4 academic departments: “Physical geography”, “Human geography”, “Ecology and natural resource management” and “Social and cultural services and tourism”.
FACULTY OF HISTORY
The Faculty of History of the Chechen State University was founded in 1968. It is focused on preserving the best traditions of education, continuous development, and innovative activity.
The faculty prepares bachelors in 4 areas of training:
- “History”;
- “Museology and protection of objects of cultural and natural heritage”;
- “Foreign Regional Studies”;
- “Cultural Studies”
The faculty has a postgraduate study in the following areas:

In the structure of the faculty there are 5 departments: “New and Newest History”, “Domestic History and Political Science”, “History of the Peoples of Chechnya”, “History of the Ancient World and the Middle Ages”, “Museology and Cultural Studies”, Historical Museum of Local Lore (since April 2004), “Archaeological Laboratory” (since 2013).

ACCOMMODATION
Chechen State University provides foreign students with a modern, well-equipped cozy hostel which is located within the university campus. The building is divided into modules of two rooms for two and three people and includes a kitchen, bathroom, balcony and all other necessities. There is also a swimming pool and huge sports ground on the territory of the campus where you can workout, play football, basketball and volleyball.

Grozny is a city in Russia, the capital of the Chechnya Republic, standing on both banks of the Sunzha River, the tributary of the Terek River.
Grozny city climate is temperate continental with mild winters, long and hot summers. The average temperature in January is -2 degrees, in July — +24 degrees.
Large-scale reconstruction of the city was carried out in recent years. The airport “Grozny” offers flights to Moscow.
In the center of the city, you can see a large Islamic complex with a total area of almost 14 hectares.
On its territory, there are the mosque “Heart of Chechnya” (the largest in Europe). Grozny is the home city of the Russian Premier League football club “FC Terek” playing in Sultan Bilimkhanov stadium.
