Ivanovo State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering

Federal State Budget Educational Institution of Higher Education «Ivanovo State Politechnical University» is a higher educational institution located in the city of Ivanovo. It was established by the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation No. 995 of November 28, 2012, by merging Ivanovo State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering and Ivanovo State Textile Academy.
Ivanovo State Polytechnic University has over 3,000 students from 21 regions of the Russian Federation and 17 foreign countries; the teaching staff is formed by more than 250 scientific and pedagogical workers, over 85% of them have scientific degrees of Candidates or Doctors of sciences.

Informatization of University Activities

Resource opportunities of informatization are provided by more than 1000 PCs, united in a single corporate network and provided with access to the Internet, a computer class complex and workstation.

Research Activity

The scientific research of the university is carried out within the framework of 19 main research areas corresponding to the prioritized scientific tendencies of development, technology and engineering in the Russian Federation.

The basis of the scientific, innovation and production infrastructure of Ivanovo State Polytechnic University (ISPU) is:

• 5 research and educational centers established in partnership with manufacturing companies and the Institute of Solution Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences;
• three small innovative enterprises;
• dozens of scientific laboratories;
• own publishing house and a section of instant printing;
• a complex of museum, exhibition and resource centers.

Accommodation

University Infrastructure

The structure of ISPU includes:

• five educational buildings;
• two campus hostels;
• extensive fundamental library, the book fund of which has more than 1 million book units;
• sports facilities complex;
• recreation center in the town of Plyos.

Campus

The distribution of places in dormitories is carried out by the departments of the University. The starting date of the settlement is annually approved by the order of the university’s rector.

Nonresident students have primary right for settlement in the dormitories.

Applicants for entry and accompanying persons during the enrollment campaign are provided with places for temporary residence. By the permission of the department of educational and social work close relatives are provided with places for temporary accommodation in the campus hostels with payment at the rates established by local regulatory enactments during the guest visit.

International Linguistic Education Center

The International Linguistic Education Center of Ivanovo State Polytechnic University, established on the basis of the Department of Foreign Languages, is engaged in the training of international students, as well as in linguistic support for the process of teaching Russian as a foreign language.

Library

The library is one of the leading structural divisions of the university, the main tasks of which are: information support of science and education and promotion of the spiritual, educational and cultural development of the individual.

The library serves more than 12 thousand users; about 70 thousand bibliographic units consulted are registered annually.

Currently more than 1 million book units are kept in the library.

Theatre-studio of model art

Theatre-studio of model art of Ivanovo State Polytechnic University trains young men and women aged 15 to 25 years.

Training takes place in the following disciplines: defile technique, plastic movements, acting skills, photoposition, make-up technique and much more.
Upon completion of training, a certificate of additional education is issued.

The dance team “Universe City”

The dance team “Universe City” was set up in 2015 on the basis of ISPU with the support of the Students’Trade Union Organization.
The goal of the team is to support talented students and involve them in creative activity.

Dissertation Councils

Candidate’s (PhD) and doctoral dissertations are defended in two specialized thesis boards (The thesis defense board on construction sciences occupies the sixth position out of 46 in rating of the thesis boards of the Russian Federation for 2016).

International Activity

International cooperation is an integral part of the activity of the ISPU, its important factor in recognizing the authority and consolidating the university’s leadership in the global scientific and educational system. The main guidelines in the sphere of international relations are:

• training of specialists for foreign countries;
• extension of mutually beneficial bilateral and multilateral contacts with foreign universities, research centers, manufacturing companies through the academic exchange, joint research, the organization of scientific conferences, forums and seminars, and the strengthening of cultural contacts.

Since 2010 representatives of well-known Russian and foreign scientific schools of textile design and garment design have repeatedly become winners and prize-winners of various international and all-Russian fashion festivals.

In the international sphere the training of specialists from abroad prevails. To date there are cooperation agreements with more than 50 foreign universities, associations and enterprises in Europe, North America, Asia, Africa and Australia.

ISPU has to its credit:

• participation in the TEMPUS program of the Commission of the European Communities (the Interregional Resource Center for Training and Personnel Development for the sphere of Tourism and Hospitality is set up on the project “Creation of tourism centers network” by the Department of Social and Cultural Service and Tourism of the Textile Institute;
• the Institute for Management and Organization of Production participated in the project “Lifelong Learning and Development of Innovative Technologies in the Field of Energy Saving and Environmental Control”;
• participation in the “Immanuel Kant” program of the German Academic Exchange Service and the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia (three grants won);
• participation in the British Council “Internationalization of Higher Education” project (one grant won);
• participation in the Second Russian-Chinese High Tech Forum (November 2017, Moscow);
• partnership of the Engineering Center of the Textile and Light Industry of ISPU and foreign companies LAROCHE SA France, OOO “Akroma Consulting Switzerland GmbH”;
• opening of the International Linguistic Education Center on the basis of ISPU.

In 2014-2017 Representatives of the University traveled to foreign educational and scientific centers for participation in international conferences, seminars, exhibitions (Hungary, Germany, Denmark, Egypt, Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, France, Switzerland, Sweden), for participation in training (Germany and France), for teaching and consulting students (China, Kazakhstan, France) and participation in finals of international contests of clothing designers in China.

Cooperation with the PRC occupies a special place in the international life of the university. Particularly the training of personnel is being carried out, including the highly qualified specialists in ISPU for the China Textile and Fashion Industry.

Science and intercultural cooperation:

• young Chinese designers participate in Russian competitions (“Russian silhouette”, “Provincial style”, “Textile salon”);
• permanent exhibitions of works by Chinese designers at the Department of Textile Fashion Design and in the “Academy”, ISPU students’ refferring to the Chinese culture in the development of clothes collections.
