Pacific National University is one of the largest higher education institutions of the Far East of the Russian Federation and it is involved in the formation of a unified culture of educational space of higher education of Russian Federation.
Contingent of students at all levels of education is about 18,000 people, including full-time education – about 8000.
University history began in 1958 with the creation of Khabarovsk Highway Institute, which in 1962 was reorganized into the Khabarovsk Polytechnic Institute, and in 1992 – in Khabarovsk State University of Technology. In 2005, Khabarovsk State University of Technology was transformed into a Pacific National University.

Over the 55 years of activity university has prepared more than 88,000 specialists with higher education for the enterprises and organizations of the Far East and Eastern Siberia.

Pacific National University employs more than 900 people of the teaching staff, including about 120 doctors and more than 420 PhDs.

Full-time education
Training programs with a full period of training and full-time (intramural) form of study are carried out by 9 schools of Pacific National University, which train specialists and bachelors in 10 specialties and 93 bachelor profiles. Annually, more than a 1000 full scholarships are available for intramural studies with full period of education.There are also 36 areas of master studies. Non-resident students for the duration of training are provided  with dormitories.

Entrance exams for applicants of intramural studies on specialties and areasof bachelor studies are held in two ways: USE results and in a way of   university testing. University tests are conducted at the request of citizens with disabilities (in the absence the results of USE), for college graduates who wish to study in full training on specialty profile, as well as for graduates of the year of 2008 and earlier, not willing to take USE this year. Additional university tests are carried out on the creative direction of the bachelor studies sucha as: “Architecture”, “Design of architectural environment”, “Technology of artistic processing of materials” and “Journalism”. Entrance exams for entering the master’s degree are carried out in a form of university exam in selected the field of training.

Students who were not admitted on a programs with full scholarships can apply for extramural studies.

Young men studying at university on full-time programs of education are deferred from military service for the entire period of study.

Department of Extension and Parallel Training  provides training on reduced programs of full-time studies (duration – 3 years) on the basis of secondary vocational education (technical colleges) in 9 directions of bachelors studies, enrollment is based on the results of testing on the subjects, USE results are also suitable for admission. Faculty also produces training for PNU students who are graduating from their first year and want to get a second degree in parallel with the main one, in 5 areas of bachelor’s studies. Classes are held four times a week, according to the annual schedule of the educational process in the second half of the day. On an individual curriculum it is possible to obtain a second higher education in parallel with the main in all specialties and areas of training that University provides.

Hostel

Pacific National University provides a high level of social protection and social guarantees to its students. There are 9 dormitories with accommodation for over 3000 non-resident students at the university campus.

Two types of dormitories are available for foreign students:

One dormitory offers accommodation in a furnished room for 4 students with a TV and a fridge; there are 2 public kitchens, a shower, and WC on the floor.
The other offers accommodation in a section of 2 furnished rooms for 2-3 students each, with a TV and a fridge, a shower and a WC for a section; a kitchen is available for 4-5 sections.
The dormitories are located in 5 minutes walk from the university.

There is a shopping center, a business center, and a swimming pool at the campus.

PNU has a medical clinic for students to render free medical care, as well as “Beriozka” the health resort, which is the only one university medical institution in Khabarovsk Krai.

Foreign students receive a high quality medical care at the leading medical institutions of Khabarovsk on the basis of health insurance.

City

Khabarovsk is a city in Russia, the capital of Khabarovsk krai. The city stands on the right bank of the Amur River, on the Middle Amur lowland, about 20 km from the border with China.

It is a major economic, transport, logistic, political, and cultural center of the Russian Far East. The distance from Khabarovsk to Moscow is about 8,400 km.

Khabarovsk museums
The Museum of Local Lore named after N.I. Grodekov (Shevchenko Street, 11). One of the oldest museums in the Far East, founded in 1894, with more than 400 thousand different exhibits;
Far Eastern Art Museum (Shevchenko Street, 7). The museum has the largest collection in the Russian Far East. You can see paintings made by Vereshchagin, Shishkin, Repin, Titian, Rubens, Rembrandt. There is also a collection of ancient weapons;
Khabarovsk Archeology Museum (Turgenev Street, 86). The exhibition tells about the history and ancient cultures of the Amur region. The museum building is a monument of architecture, culture and history of federal significance;
The Museum of the Far Eastern Railway (Vladivostokskaya Street, 40). Here you can learn more about the history of the construction of the Ussuri Railway (Vladivostok – Khabarovsk) as part of the Great Siberian way (the famous Trans-Siberian Railway);
The Museum of the City of Khabarovsk (Lenin Street, 85). It is the youngest museum in the city opened in 2004. The pride of the museum is the collection of weapons and firearms of the twentieth century;
The Military Historical Museum of the Far Eastern Military District (Shevchenko Street, 20). The museum is located in a historic building on the banks of the Amur River in the historic center of the city. It has a collection of battle banners of the Civil and the Great Patriotic War, domestic and foreign firearms and bladed weapons, orders and medals, uniforms and equipment, paintings and drawings, military and political posters. In the courtyard of the museum, you can find an exhibition of military equipment;
The Art Gallery named after A.M. Fedotov (Muravyov-Amursky Street, 47). More than 700 paintings, drawings and objects of traditional art of indigenous people of the Amur region.

Khabarovsk parks
The regional park named after N.N. Muravyov-Amursky (Shevchenko Street, 15). The park is situated along the embankment of the Amur River. Here you can find the famous monument to N.N. Muravyov-Amursky, the governor-general of Eastern Siberia;
Park named after A.Gaydar (Tolstoy Street, 2). It is an amazingly beautiful place where you can relax with kids. The park has an entertainment center “Harlequin” with rides, children’s bowling, cafes and toy stores. In winter, on the site of a soccer field, there is an ice skating rink;
Park “Khabarovsk Arboretum” (Shkolnaya Street, 7). The natural monument of regional significance, the cultural center of the city. The arboretum has 386 different species of plants;
Park “Severniy” (Tryokhgornaya Street, 43). Residents and visitors of Khabarovsk can stand on the bridges at the pond, relax in the cozy gazebos, walk through the shady alleys with cobbled walkways. The church of St. Seraphim of Sarov is located here;
Park “Dynamo” (Karl Marx Street, 62). It is a large and beautiful park located in the center of Khabarovsk. You can relax at any time of the year here. Not far from the park you can find the city’s ponds with walking zones and a cascade of fountains.
