The Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, also known as RUDN University, is an educational and research institution located in Moscow. It was established in 1960 to provide higher education. It became an integral part of the Soviet cultural offensive in nonaligned countries.

Today Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia is one of the leading state higher educational institutions of Russia. It is the only university in the world every year uniting students from 140 countries. The University has a multi-profile structure of faculties and majors, typical for classical universities of the world. More than 77 thousand graduates of the University work in 170 countries, among them more than 5500 holders of Ph.D. and Doctorate degrees.

Specialists are prepared in 62 majors and lines of study. More than 29 thousand graduate and postgraduate students from 140 countries are currently studying at the university. They represent more than 450 nations and nationalities of the world.

The University is a renowned research center. It is a team of 4500 employees, among them 2826 highly qualified teachers. The University intellectual fund comprises more than 870 author’s invention certificates and 150 patents of the Russian Federation in practically all fields of University scientific research.

Many foreign and Russian political and public figures and outstanding scholars and scientists became PFUR Emeritus Professors. Among them are presidents of Namibia, Angola, Sri Lanka and the South African Republic, Gabon and Nigeria; prime-ministers Bangladesh, Kazakhstan; UN Chief Executive Officer on Education, Culture and Science; Director of CEPES.

MEDICAL FACULTY

The Faculty of Medicine was established as part of the P. Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University upon the decision of the Government of the USSR in Moscow on February 5, 1960. Classes at the faculty began on September 1, 1961. In July 1991, upon the decision of the Government of the Russian Federation, the University received the status of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN).
The Faculty of Medicine is a structural academic subdivision of the University that has carried out pre-diploma training of specialists majoring in “Medical care” since 1961 to the present, training of interns, clinical residents, postgraduate students and doctoral students.
Training process
The standard period of mastering the basic educational programme of training on the specialty 31.05.01 “Medical care” on a full-time basis is six years or 360 credit units.
The structure of the specialist’s programme includes a compulsory (basic) part and a part formed by the participants in the educational relations (optional part).
Disciplines (modules) related to the basic part of the programme (philosophy, bioethics, history, history of medicine, jurisprudence, foreign languages, Latin language, physics, mathematics, medical informatics, chemistry, biology, human anatomy, histology, normal physiology, biochemistry, general pathology and pathophysiology, microbiology, immunology, faculty therapy, neurological diseases, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, urology, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology, hospital surgery and therapy, oncology, etc.);
disciplines (modules) related to its optional part (bioorganic chemistry, molecular biology and physiology, medical elementology, reproductive health, evidence medicine, telemedicine, maxillofacial surgery, endoscopic urology, etc.).
Theoretical training of students is carried out in the structural subdivisions of the Institute of Medicine of RUDN University (classrooms and lecture halls, the Simulation Training Center, university clinics, with typical sets of professional models and the results of laboratory and instrumental research in the amount that allows learners to master the skills and abilities provided for by the professional activity, individually).
Medical students are actively engaged in research work, including within the framework of scientific student societies, participate in scientific and research-to-practice conferences.
Internship
Educational and on-the-job internships are held in the Simulation Training Center, University clinics and multi-speciality departments of Moscow city clinical hospitals equipped with modern medical equipment where students acquire and consolidate basic practical skills.
RUDN students have the opportunity to undertake internships abroad. There is an experience of internship in Hungary.

CAREER

After graduating from the University on the specialty 31.05.01 “Medical care”, a graduate receives a diploma of General Practitioner and can work as a doctor in the primary health care in an outpatient clinic.
Starting with the position of a general practitioner or an assistant at the department, a RUDN graduate has the opportunity to become a head of a hospital department, a chief physician or a head of the department.
Graduates can continue postgraduate studies upon residency, postgraduate and doctoral programme with subsequent appointment to higher positions.
Graduates majoring in “Medical care” of the Institute of Medicine of RUDN University are in demand and work in Russia, Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, the USA, England, France, Germany, Canada, etc.

LIBRARY

The RUDN (RUDN University) is one of the largest Russian publishers of scientific, educational, methodological literature, peer-reviewed journals, materials for students, post-graduate students, lecturers, specialists, and a wide range of readers.
According to the Russian Chamber of Books, among more than 600 Russian universities, which have their own publishing houses and printing houses, the RUDN is included in the TOP-10 in terms of the number of annual items and the total circulation of publications.
The RUDN is implementing partner programmes with the offices of Elsevier and SpringerNature.
The RUDN is a co-founder and member of the Association of Scientific Editors and Publishers.

ABOUT MOSCOW

Moscow is the capital of Russia, its political, economic and cultural center. It was founded eight centuries ago by Prince Yuri Dolgoruky. Precisely, historians have concluded that the city was founded in the year of 1147. Gradually, Moscow became bigger and more widespread. <br>

CAMPUS

There are 20 teaching blocks and 13 dormitories on the Mikluho-Maklaya Street named in honor of the Russian traveler and ethnographer. More than 8000 students and PhD candidates live in comfortable rooms or apartments with every convenience — bath-room, equipped kitchen, Internet connection, satellite TV. There is a laundry and ironing table as also study hall in every building. Fire protection and twenty-four-hours video monitoring systems ensure safety of the territory. What is very comfortable is that all buildings in the campus are situated in close proximity to each other.

There are excellent opportunities for a full life in the campus: stores and branch bank, barbershops, a dry-cleaner, parking lots and car service centre. After classes students can relax in different cafes and restaurants, enjoy their authentic national cuisine — African, Arab, Indian, Russian, Chinese, Georgian. The great fountain at the central square of the University is considered as a “heart” of the campus.
