About Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University

Russian National Research Medical University named after N.I. Pirogov or formerly known as Russian State Medical University (RSMU) is an educational institute located in Moscow, Russia. It is fully accredited and recognized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia and is currently under the authority of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation. As one of the largest medical institution in Russia and Europe, currently more than 9200 people are enrolled in almost 115 different academic departments in this university.

More than 2000 professors are working in 115 departments offer lectures, seminars and practical laboratory sessions in the sciences in more than 250 courses. University has аn established network of the biggest Moscow state clinical hospitals which service hundreds of thousands people with various pathologies._…

The RSMU is closely connected with practical health care. The University has its bases in 38 largest city hospitals, some dispensaries and maternity homes, among which is the Republican Children’s Clinical Hospital equipped with the modern medical facilities and a computer centre. In these hospitals the future doctors have their clinical practice under the supervision of experienced teachers.

FACULTIES AND PROGRAMS

Medical (Therapeutic) Faculty_↩

Therapeutic (medical) faculty was founded in 1906. It was Russian first Higher Medical educational establishment for women. Over the period of its existence more than 30 000 therapists were trained there.

As of today, the Therapeutic faculty is still the largest university faculty which houses 4630 students of university who specialize in the program «Clinical Therapy». As it was in previous years faculty departments are tightly connected with Moscow institutions for health treatment in practice such as big state clinical hospitals, maternity hospitals, outpatient-polyclinic establishments that form the clinical basis.

Russian National Research Medical University named after N.I. Pirogov trains highly qualified physicians on major spheres of medical activity: therapists, surgeons and others. The faculty consists of 40 departments that provide our graduates for high level in general theories, medico biological and clinical training.

Pediatric Faculty_↩

In 1930 the one-of-a-kind maternity, baby-hood and Children’s Treatment Faculty was opened in RNRMU (now known as Pediatric Faculty). Starting from the very first day of the faculty formation, future pediatricians were trained according to high school regulations and practical health treatment demands. Departments of the pediatric faculty are tightly connected with Moscow Health Service establishment and possess hospital stock of more than 10 000 beds.

22 academicians and RAMS associates, as well as 20 academicians and associates of other academies, more than 130 doctors of medical sciences including 96 professors 53 of whom head the departments work at the departments and train students of the pediatric faculty. More than 400 lecturers have academic degrees of candidate of Medical Science, over 190 have a degree of an associate professor.

Over the period of pediatric faculty existence, there were 75 full-time and 37 evening courses of study, with over 25 000 pediatricians being trained.

RNRMU provides foreign students with a comfortable, modern hostel with blocks for 4-5 people (2 rooms, kitchen, bathroom and all other amenities). It is located within the campus itself, which significantly reduces commuting time. Sports and healthy lifestyle are inextricably linked with each other, because physical fitness is the basis for a successful career and productive work. That is why RNRMU pays great attention to support sport clubs and the organization of mass sporting events. Students are trained in a modern sports complex.
